Beginning Monday, June 22, Monroe Free Library will begin offering curbside pickup services. Patrons will be able to call the library at (845)783-4411 and request materials from the library’s collection.
How does it work?
Use the online catalog to browse our collection. Then, give us a call at (845) 783-4411 to make your requests. Staff will collect the items into a disposable bag and then call you back to assign a pickup time. When you arrive, call the library again to let us know. A fully PPE protected staff member will bring the items out to you. We will will accommodate both car pick-ups and walk-ups. If you drive, you can choose to pop your trunk and have staff place the materials inside. Pickups will be staggered to avoid lines and crowds. We ask that you wear a mask to participate in this service.
What are the hours of operation?
Reservation and pickup services will be available on the following schedule:
Monday: 10:00 – 3:00
Tuesday: 10:00 – 3:00
Wednesday: 3:00 – 8:00
Thursday: 10:00 – 3:00
Friday: 10:00 – 3:00
Saturday: 10:00 – 3:00
Please note that the last pickup of the day will be at 2:30 PM, but we will continue to take reservations until 3:00.
What sorts of material can I borrow?
You'll be able to borrow any books, DVDs, music CDs, and audiobooks that are housed at 44 Millpond Parkway. Please note that this new service is only available for materials that Monroe Free Library owns; interlibrary loans remain suspended.
Can I place a hold online?
Online holds will be available during this time, but only for local materials. Please note that if you place a hold online, you will still need to call the library to schedule a pickup.
How do I return items?
Also beginning on June 22nd, we will re-open the outdoor book drop, located near the front door of the library. Patrons who have been holding onto materials since the closure are encouraged to bring them back. However, fines will remain suspended for the foreseeable future. All materials returned to the library will be quarantined until it is deemed safe to circulate them.
When will the library be open the public?
Our reopening plan is still evolving based on state-wide trends and the science of infectious disease. We do not have any information to share at this time. As soon as we do, we'll be sure to shout it from the rooftops!
